Although our specialty remains theology and its related areas, we are interested in purchasing books in any subject area, in any language, from any period (everything from early manuscripts and incunabula to late 20th century titles). We usually must see books in order to appraise them professionally. Only in the case of very small lots of books (perhaps 50 titles) is it ever helpful to us that you prepare a list of the books you want to sell. Bear in mind that the condition of a book is of the utmost importance. A given book may be worth a great deal or worth nothing at all dependent upon its condition. This is the chief reason why we almost always have to examine books before we can know what to pay for them.
We travel extensively throughout North America and Europe to purchase books. Some areas we visit as many as two or three times each year (for example: New England, the San Francisco Bay area, Baltimore-Washington, D.C., Michigan and Ohio). It might well be that we shall be visiting your geographical area on a buying trip within a month or two of your contacting us. For large collections or substantial libraries we are always willing to undertake special buying trips, often at relatively short notice.
