4. A Select Collection of Catholick Sermons Preach'd before their Majesties King James II. Mary Queen-Consort, Catherine Queen-Dowager, &c. Volume the First.  London: [1741-1761]. Small 4to, viii + 446pp (+ pages [65]-[96] and [93]-[120] added within the standard pagination). Bound in contemporary mottled calf, newly rebacked in imitation leather with red morocco label. This is a later reprint of recusant Catholic sermons given by noted priests between 1685-1688, under the reign of James II. The priests include two Franciscans (James Ayray & Angel Bix), two Jesuits (Edward Scarisbrike & Richard Levison), one Benedictine (Philip Ellis), etc. There are a total of 15 sermons, each with its own title-page, preceded by a general title-page and 6 pages of preliminaries: 'the Publisher to the Reader' and 'Contents'. 13 of the sermons are dated 1741, while there are 2 additional sermons dated 1761; the general title-page and 'Contents' take all 15 sermons into account. Although the general title-page gives London, 1741, as the place and date of publication, the name of the printer is not given. The 15 sermons give neither place nor printer. It is probable the work was published by Jesuits, given the IHS symbol on the general title-page, and the probable date of general publication is 1761.

32. The Holy Bible Translated from the Latin Vulgate... First Published by the English College at Douay, Anno 1609 Newly Revised and Corrected, According to the Clementin Edition of the Scriptures. With Annotations for Clearing Up the Principal Difficulties of Holy Writ. [WITH] [The New Testament... Translated out of the Latin Vulgat... Newly revised and corrected... With Annotations].  Edinburgh; [London]: Printed by and for John Moir, Royal Bank Close, for Keating, Brown, and Keating... London: and for W, 1805; [1818 or 1832]. Five 12mo volumes. Newly rebound in uniform black cloth, with gilt-lettered red morocco labels to spines. Contemporary owner's signature in volumes I-IV. Volume V lacks title-page. The first four volumes are a reprint (1805) of Challoner's revision of the Douai Old Testament, which was first published in 1750. This 1805 edition consisted of about 2000 copies, which were circulated primarily in England and Ireland. The fifth volume, because it lacks the title-page, is of uncertain date, but is almost certainly the Keating and Brown edition of either 1818 or 1832. In either case, it is a reprint of Challoner's revision of the Rheims New Testament, first published in 1749. Our copy, of 500pp including the tables, gives the approbations as in the 1749 edition, and it does not contain a list of errata (though the possibility exists that this is lacking along with the title-page). Note that Darlow & Moule 1791, concerning the 1832 edition, indicate 488pp, while the listing for this edition in the British Museum catalogue gives 500pp. In our copy, page 488 is the end of the Apocalypse; the remaining pages are devoted to the tables. [Darlow & Moule 1090, 1677, 1791; Pope pp.356, 422-3]
