Sale of Books on Consignment

In some select cases, Loome Theological Booksellers (LTB) offer consignment services for the retail sale or auction of antiquarian and/or rare books. We implement our 30 years in the book trade – our knowledge of books, our research capabilities, and perhaps most importantly, our reputation and broad client base, as well as our experience and relationship with many of the major auction houses in the United States, Britain, and the European Continent – to see that your book(s) achieve the best possible price on the market.

Commission Rates & Postage

Our commission rates are quite reasonable: 30% of the first $500, 20% of the price from there and up to $2000, 15% of the price thereafter and up to $10,000, and 10% of any price above $10,000.

In the case of a book selling through a listing service, the commission is calculated on the amount LTB receives (i.e. after any listing fees and commissions).

In the case of a book selling at auction, commission is calculated on the amount received from the auction house, not on the hammer price (the price bid by the winning bidder but before any collection of fees by the auction house).

Responsibility for postal costs of sending items to LTB falls to the consignee. Postal costs for sending items to auction will be split evenly between the consignee and LTB.

There are no other fees or charges associated with this service.
